Alabama Paraquat Lawsuit Attorneys

On April 30, 2021, Gregory Odom, a resident of Alabama filed a lawsuit in federal court in Alabama under case number: 1:21-cv-00208-N.

The lawsuit names defendants Syngenta Crop Protection LLC, Syngenta AG, and Chevron U.S.A. Inc.

Alabama Plaintiffs Exposure to Paraquat

Mr. Odom states in his complaint that he was repeatedly exposed to and inhaled, ingested or absorbed paraquat in farm locations around Mobile and Citronelle, Alabama from between the late 1960s to the late 1980s. He also believes he was exposed to paraquat while working on a fruit tree experimentation project via Alabama University.

Parkinson's Diagnosis

Mr. Gregory Odom also states in the complaint that he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in the year 2000 and it is his belief that the diagnosis is a result of his significant direct exposure to Paraquat. His complaint makes clear that no doctor ever connected the exposure to Paraquat and his diagnosis, and Mr. Odom only understood and connected the injury to the exposure after seeing articles about it. Mr. Odom states that he did not believe while working and being exposed to Paraquat, that he could potentially develop Parkinson's disease.

The complaint details the corporate history of all the defendants named in the lawsuit and continues to recount the various exposures suffered by the plaintiff. The complaint also details information about Parkinson's disease and the toxicity of Paraquat.

Analysis By Paraquat Attorney Jason Reese, Esq.

"Agricultural workers put in long hours and are among the most influential people in society. They are entitled to more. There seems to be sufficient proof that paraquat was harmful, and these businesses should have been aware of this. They should have warned these staff that they were potentially being exposed to a chemical that could cause Parkinson's disease. They should have pulled the product from the market, to be honest. Now is the time to seek redress. These people are deserving of justice, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that my clients receive it." - Jason Reese.
