Gramixel is an extremely effective herbicide. However, it contains nearly 50% paraquat dichloride, which even in the smallest exposure can be fatal. Paraquat is so dangerous that it can only be handled by a certified applicator who has undergone thorough training and education with the Environmental Protection Agency. When using herbicides containing paraquat, such as Gramixel, the following safety equipment must be worn by the certified applicator:
Since its intended use is for agricultural purposes and because it is so toxic, it is forbidden under federal law to use any item containing paraquat on playgrounds, recreational parks, sports fields, schools, and golf courses.
The active ingredient in Gramixel is paraquat dichloride. Paraquat exposure has been linked to an increased risk of developing Parkinson’s Disease. Those who have handled paraquat are at a 250% greater risk than the general population. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with, or are experiencing symptoms of, Parkinson’s disease and has a history of exposure to paraquat via Gramixel or any other product, we urge you to contact our firm. Seek medical attention immediately if you are experiencing symptoms such as slow movement, tremors in the hands, legs, jaw, or head, stiff limbs, or impaired balance and coordination. Parkinson’s disease is not always diagnosed correctly, so seeking a second, or even a third, opinion is strongly encouraged.
Due to the varying degree of injury from plaintiff to plaintiff, we do not intend to file a class action at this time.
